Thank you, really, for bearing with the nighttime Dashboard slowdowns during the last few weeks.

As it turns out, we blew past our February traffic projections yesterday, and served more than 700M impressions over the last 30 days.  We were a bit unprepared.

But our scaling guru, Andrew Terng, has been working furiously to get new equipment online and serving the Dashboard faster than ever. Stay tuned!

Can someone define for me an “impression”, as it pertains to this?

Is it an individual page view?  A search result?

Think of impressions as eyeballs.  I’d assume it doesn’t include search results.  Gross impressions can be duplicated though, so that 700M number may include the same eyeballs multiple times.  A unique impression doesn’t include duplication though.  So the same person can log onto their dashboard multiple times, but they only count once.
